Journal #7 - Symbolic Writing

Kim walked along with her friend, pushing the shopping cart along the aisles of the supermarket. Her friend, Irene started to browse the many types of steak that was laid out. Irene had agreed to have dinner with Kim was feeling a little down. They decided to have dinner together at Kim's place instead of having to dedicate themselves to a restaurant and letting the waiters badger them on taste and satisfaction on their service.
"So how do you like your steak? I'll cook."
"Kim looked up at her friend, thinking about when she last had a good piece of steak. "I don't really know. I haven't had it in a while. Since you're cooking, you should help me pick."
"Ok... Would you like a fattier one or a leaner one? I like the leaner one because it's chewier and its not as oily and moist." Irene picked up a steak for herself, putting it into the shopping cart. "Do you like the steak to be thicker or thinner? And what about the bone? I find that the smaller bone is easier to work with."
Kim looked at the two steaks that Irene held up, getting overwhelmed with her choices. "I think a bigger bone is better. I heard that it tastes better. Something about the bone seasoning the steak and all."
"Alrighty... You can't over season it too much though or it'll end up tasting like you got it from a really bad deli or something." Irene picked up another two steaks to show Kim. "Thick or thin? You still didn't answer me. The thick one keeps its shape after you cook it but the thin one would curve up."
"That's a lot of choices... I pick thick." Kim said, pointing at the thicker-looking steak. "How do you know so much about steaks anyways?"
Irene grinned at Kim. "I make steak a lot when I'm at home by myself all day long. It's my own pleasure food when I don't go out for dinner. My personal five-star restaurant, you know?" Irene set the steak down in the shopping cart and started to head towards the seasoning section of the supermarket.
"Wait, wait. Can I get one that has less fat? I don't like the way the fat is going to be all puffy and in the way when I eat it. I hate it when I have to move the fat away, it's annoying." Kim gave a nervous laugh and watched as Irene picked the steak up from the cart and put it back on the pile before going through the pile for another, better one. She lifted one up, showing Kim.
"This one good?"
"Yeah, thanks." Kim looked at the steak and smiled, thinking about how the steak would taste. She was hoping for the best meal she would have in a while.
